A Pool of One's Own

The Jones' were the most envied family in my neighborhood growing up.

They had a pool.

During the Summer months, hundreds of messages were left on their answering machine daily, mostly from Myself and my bosom buddy Emily, begging to let us come swim.

This weekend i experienced a reminiscence of that past passion for diving boards and chlorine as I swam in the pool I have been dreaming of my entire life....
My parent's built a pool in their backyard.

I'm sure you all agree that having a pool of one's own is one of the greatest gifts in life....no stranger's scabby bandaids, no sudden warm spots, no struggle in swimsuit confidence, no foreign floating objects, and no belly flop embarrasment.
Although i now feel sure pain that I wasn't born at the end of 7 children so I could experience firsthand the life of the Jones', I can now fly 800 miles and find a bliss that is rare in existence in our planet today.

p.s. my neck and back are strained (I thought I was 11 years old again and attempted to do my old tricks off the diving board.) Cruel reality has now settled.

p.p.s. I thought this pic of Uncle Daney was very characteristic of him.

OK... I've never laughed so hard! You're family can now be considered the COOLEST family in town! How fun to be able to do tricks on the diving board! I haven't jumped off one of those since I was 12! Did they have any annoying neighbor kids like ourselves giving you a taste of what we were like? Love you car! Hope you had fun in Utah!!!!
XOXO

I will try to restrain my kids from calling and asking to swim in their pool, but I make no promises about myself! It was good to see you Carly and we will miss you all in our ward so much!!!

So does this mean your parents already built and moved into their new house? I remember seeing the plans and I think I peed my pants a little bit.

I'm going to make a trip to Utah just to visit your folks!

Hey Calculus clubber! I wish I didn't miss you while you were in Utah. What are the chances that you come to visit right when I am not there. NOT COOL! The pool looks great...if only we could have found a good one in CA. Where we lived there were no good pool! What is up with that? Oh well

How true that is. Bro and Sis Jones probably moved because of the kids in our ward. I love your parents new house, though! So cute!

I have been wanting to take a stroll down my parents road to peek at the new Runia house and I have heard about the new pool! What a fun place to get together as a family! I LOVE your writting and your thoughts. I also called the Jones' growing up with my best friend...Hannah! We would walk across their wall to see if anyone was swimming and if we could get an invite.

I know, its too bad I was one of the oldest as well. You never will get to appreciate what your younger siblings get to. I guess thats just how life is. Got to make up for it somehow! Just think, you are probably such a harder worker!--HahA Thats what I tell myself anyway.

I love you! You know what? people don't think I can tan because Lets me honest I am so white!! But little do they know that after one good burn I am set with a beautiful bronze tan that is breath taking. JK. Sadly my tan is leaving me after only being in provo for two weeks.

HMMM I can not believe that you guys are buying a house!! That is so exciting. You guys are like a real family. Do you know what I mean? I won't reach that point for years. I am so excited for you.

the funny thing is practically everyone in AZ has a pool... I didn't know it was such a luxury! I'm glad you have one to enjoy all to yourself (when you're home!) Sad I missed you. When will we ever reconnect?? I feel like I'm missing out on so much of your life!
